6mm pump in testbench Dyno result. - dieselmeken - 03-13-2011

Hi, Dieselmeken from Sweden here. A small clip that I did when I tuned up a pump for a 250 TD, the pump has 6 mm element, and 2 setups with delivery valves.

Hope you enjoy the clip.

Do you tune OM617 pumps too?

RE: 6mm pump in testbench - dieselmeken - 03-14-2011

Yes I do, I have one 10 mm pump for 300tdt that puts out a lot of fuel, that one is to powerful and will be replaced by a 6 mm pump next month. Then I have one 617 10 mm for sale.

RE: 6mm pump in testbench - jonbobshinigin - 03-14-2011

We are all needing a less expensive alternative to Myna :-) You should talk to Tomnik and get his 7.5mm Floyd elements and build a run of pump for us here in the states and ship them over!

RE: 6mm pump in testbench - Captain America - 03-14-2011

YES ... PLEASE!

How much?!

RE: 6mm pump in testbench - Diesel-Wiking - 03-15-2011

how much for a MW pump with 10mm elements?

Impressive, and your english is very good. Please give us more information on your work. Very very interested.

Thank you for your feedback. If you do a search on "dieselmeken" you will find more workmovies on youtube. Also you will se the small dieselpickup that I build in 2001. That one was quite fast.

Hi DieselMeken,

I found your video's on youtube about 3 months ago, very informative.

I would like some more information on modifying the rack for 21mm travel, can you help here? My local Bosch shop is going to swap my 7.5mm elements in, probably this month, once I have finished my alda.

Hugh

If the dieseltech on the workshop know the pump and the RSF governor, he can fix the rack for 19-21 mm without problem.
There is a lot of "knowhow" in this kind of modification, and I am sure he has it.

RE: 6mm pump in testbench - winmutt - 03-17-2011

Dieselmeken, please check your pm's. We would like to know how much you would charge for larger elements to be installed in a pump and how much the 10mm pump you have would cost.

RE: 6mm pump in testbench - dieselmeken - 03-20-2011

Next weekend the car with the 6 mm pump is going up in the testbench. I will hopfully bee back with som video and diagram on the power the machine puts out.

RE: 6mm pump in testbench - Spaceraver - 03-20-2011

Great. Now I just need to figure out how to ship my pump. Seeing that you are a lot closer to home than Myna.

RE: 6mm pump in testbench - mike-81-240d - 03-21-2011

Do you work with chineese elements if we supply them with the pump?

I dont work with them for the moment, Is it M or MW you mean? Maybee I can give it a try and see whats happening.

RE: 6mm pump in testbench - mike-81-240d - 03-23-2011

I'm still looking around for a M pump. I do have an extra MW though but I think I'd rather wait for a M.

RE: 6mm pump in testbench - Captain America - 03-23-2011

I have three MW's. I would rather stay with the MW instead of the M

RE: 6mm pump in testbench - garage - 03-23-2011

Id prefer the MW myself.

RE: 6mm pump in testbench Dyno result. - dieselmeken - 03-26-2011

274 hp @ 4100rpm 385nm tourqe, not bad for a 5 cyl engine with 6 mm element. Result is scanned and up next week.

Very nice resulot with "small" 6mm elements, this is very good alternative for medium tunes who don't want superturbo over 300-400hp powers.
Keep up with the good work.

Link to the swedish MB forum and the car.
If you dont understand Swedish, try google crome and translate, otherwise there is a lot of pictures on the build ther.

How many cc/min is enough for six cylinder (OM603 IP) pump to have 400-450 hp?

Could someone give me a calculation?

RE: 6mm pump in testbench Dyno result. - tomnik - 08-05-2011

Hi,

some time ago someone calculated 70-75 ccm for about 220 hp on a 5 cylinder.
On a N/A 617 my friend made 95 hp with 54 ccm.

Tom

Dieselmeken got on dyno about 270 hp from 5 cylinder with 124 cc. So for one hp 5*124/270 is about 2.3 cc/hp. So if I have engine with 6 cylinders and target is 450 hp I need 450*2.3/6= 172.5 cc. Boy in diesel shop adjusted my IP for 145 cc. Do I need more fuel?

RE: 6mm pump in testbench Dyno result. - tomnik - 08-05-2011

Hi,

the question is always if you can (completely) burn the fuel and if it is delivered within a suitable time (to allow almost complete burning).
I am sceptical about the diameter of elements providing 170 ccm within a good time.
Get on the dyno with 145 ccm and see what is the result and what it smokes.

Tom

RE: 6mm pump in testbench Dyno result. - pp d - 08-06-2011

606 engine gives atleast 460 hp with 120 cc.

RE: 6mm pump in testbench Dyno result. - cleetus - 08-08-2011

Dieselmeken,
have you had a standard om605 electric pump (with 6mm elements) on the bench and found how effective they are???

or is it comparable to the pump in the first clip???

cheers

No, havent tested that yet, but it´s the same racktravel so the results is the same. It´s only the governor that is mechanic insted of EDC.

RE: 6mm pump in testbench Dyno result. - cleetus - 08-14-2011

Thanks for that
So were the elements just standard un modified elements with the flow adjusted

or were they modified

What i am trying to ask is can you get the extra flow with the standard 6mm elements in an electronic pump???

regards

No, no extra flow, then you need bigger plungers. With modification of the deliveryvalve however, ther is some extra fuel to get, but that also gets alot of trouble with the ECU in the car, ruff idle, EDC lamp on, limphome etc etc That is not what you want.

RE: 6mm pump in testbench Dyno result. - cleetus - 08-15-2011

thanks again fella

so i am best of getting larger elements and a decent remap
