Sheet metal knock out punches? - winmutt - 03-07-2011

Where can I get them? I need 1.25"x2.25" rectangular.

Look on the Greenlee website. If you can't find it there, it'll be hard to locate. You may find an amateur radio operator who has some old Molex type knockouts, but he'll have to be quite old. Grainger's catalog is another possibility.

Did some redearch & you can buy a Plasma cutter for the price of a new punch close to your size... If time is not an issue, go to www.arrl.org & look up Ham swap meets. You should find one or someone who has it to borrow. I used to have one that was square & one that was a close measure to what you need. What about drilling 4 holes & cutting & filing it out? Dremel makes a new snaplok type cutting wheel that really gets the job done nicely. They are not like the old cheap screw on ones.

Can you overlap 2 punches? There is a 1.25x1.3 prectangle punch that will do the job.

Drilling/filing. We have 52 doors and them some to do.

Drill the holes and overlap the punches, shouldn't be too much of an issue.
I've done it to make ovoid holes using circle knock-outs before.

As 300D50 said, yes. But be sure to practice a bit first...
