Nope. Similar but the angle of the bolt pattern is more vertical on the CDI.

If i'm not mistaken, the Euro-sprinter came with an 602.982, whose manifold would fit any other 602...

Yes the older euro vans did come with a 602 euro diesel if I'm not lieing.

Does anyone know what year the 602 appeared in the sprinter? what turbos did they use on them? I am lookin for an easy way to go VNT on my car.

There is no easy way. You'll either have to make an adapter plate to use the common GT20 or GT22 turbos in the USA or import a VW turbo from Europe that has a T25 flange such as this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Audi-A4-A6-A8-All-Road-2-5-TDI-TURBO-CHARGER-454135-/270642464190

The 2.9 DI engine also came in W/S210(E290) too, 129 HP / 300 NM, But did hey com with VNT?
I believe they only have wastegated turbo`s

Only CDIs used VNT turbos.

Garrett GT25c used .It is WG not VNT
