(09-29-2010, 04:43 PM)garage Howd your wagen do on the trails? How many miles of trails were covered? Were the trails pretty gnarly?

I ended up riding with others on the trails and leaving mine at camp. a few of the others had much bigger tires on their G's which made it hard to pass an opportunity to take those out.

The place was organized like a ski resort with trails marked with beginner green dots, intermediate blue squares and advanced black diamonds.

The G's tend to do fine on the black diamonds even with fairly stock setups like my 31" tires. but bigger tires (33") open up a bit more terrain and the 35" tired G I drove was amazing -- lots of 3 wheel on the ground descents on steep terrain.

I thought the beginner trails might be ok for you w123 guys but I wasn't really surveying for that. Also, since it's run by the state, there could be rules about taking 2wd cars up them. After seeing some stuck vehicles, it made me think that you should mount some solid recovery points to the front and rear of your cars. then you could go have fun and make it easier for a 4x4 to tow you out of a messup.

That could be really fun. I'm sure if you showed up with a roof top tent mounted on a 300d and a jerrycan or two, the overland crowd would make you an honorary member or a mascot

Hell yeah!
you should get some w126 rear springs that are a thicker diameter, and chop off a coil or two so its still lowered but its a stiffer ride.

(09-18-2010, 01:06 PM)stan yeah with the sls working (knock on wood) and heavy duty springs to boot, i think i should be in pretty good shape. fronts are giving me some trouble though, but that's a story for another thread.

Hi Stan, how did you do up until now on lifting your wagon?

I think it's very easy to postorder the heavy-duty springs I have from the Netherlands. We can deliver them to you too if you want.
