Injection pump fuel shutoff diaphragm - rdirtycar - 08-07-2010

I got my new fuel shutoff diaphragm for my IP and installed it today. The new one has a very short throw of the plunger. The old leaky one's plunger/diaphragm would move in and out quite a bit when I removed it. There was no discernable vacuum leak when I tested the old one. I discovered it was bad by filling the inside the IP side with WD-40 and pushing the plunger in and out until WD-40 sprayed out the vacuum hole. I replaced it because I had oil coming out of my ignition steering lock and not because the car wouldn't shut off. It's much easier with the oil filter housing removed and in this instance I had the engine out of the car.

Huh? The shutoff actuator is easy to remove.
