Installing pyrometer? - Actros617 - 07-30-2010

I have seen people drilling their exhaust manifold with the engine running and a shop vac running right beside the drill bit and to tap it they use a vacuum and used grease on the tap is this method safe for the turbo??

Its very dangerous for the turbo. Do it right and remove the manifold.

How about removing the 12 bolts that holds the middle part and the intake of the turbo, i just dont have the space to remove the entire exhaust sysrtem and intake manifold

It really wasn't that bad when I did mine. Took a few hours after a day or work. I personally didn't want to risk it. Plus I feel it is in a better position under the manifold, less clutter up top.

Plus less heat put into the probe and wiring.
