617.952 short vs. long injector - rdirtycar - 07-24-2010

When I was torquing the halves of an injector back together that looked like it could have been an original, it "creaked" as I tightened it and was hard to get a good torque setting on it. Now it's leaking from between the halves. It was also the only one I had to adjust the shims in and it gave me a hard time with that. I was surgical in my cleanliness and thoroughly lapped the sealing surfaces. I noticed it is shorter than most of the others. Is this an older design with a shorter spring/body? And does anyone have a spare injector body with an old nozzle or no nozzle they'd like to sell me?
