Mercedes Benz bus - rdirtycar - 07-03-2010

just saw a Mercedes Benz bus. Could it be they still make commercial diesel engines? you probably don't have to throw away the entire engine if you strip a valve cover bolt.
the engine.. they still make heavy equipment engines? it must weigh more than my 300D. huge CDI.

For the same reason they make SUVs. Consumer demand. Not to mention you cant get the same materials any more.

They could build them like they used to, if you want a $40k economy car. Don't forget the W123 cost around $80k in todays money value and it didn't have any expensive electronics or toys.

True, and the wiring in my 300D was definitely not built with planned obsolescence in mind.
