New to mercedes - JR66Ford - 06-23-2010

Hello, I am new to Mercedes. I just bought an '83 300td wagon. I love it, but it's a slug. I intend to browse around on here and see what I can do to wake this car up. If I could be pointed in the right direction, that would help.

Thanks

Jason
Uhh, sorry about the large photo. I thought it would size it accordingly, guess I need to adjust it

Nice wagon first thing I would do is replace both of the fuel filters and the air filter and adjusts the ALDA for a little more off the line TQ

It's the square box on top of the Injection pump! It has screw and a nut on it if you loosen the nut and back the screw out and lock the nut back down it will give it a bit more fuel off the line!

Check the play in the throttle linkages, when I got my car had to press the pedal ~ halfway before it had some effect. Tightened up all the rods just by eyeballing & then practically felt like a completely diff beast. However, did read later in the FSM of an elaborate method involved in proper adjustments with some warnings of doing it right.
