Interior color change - MB TECH - 05-21-2010

Got some interior dye from duplicolor for the 300d sedan, seems to be going pretty good so far and looks like it should hold up.

Interesting, dyes the plastic/tex? All I see from them is http://www.duplicolor.com/products/vinyl.html

RE: Interior color change - MB TECH - 05-26-2010

Ya thats the stuff I am using, I emailed about the application and was informed it should work with no problem.

RE: Interior color change - winmutt - 05-26-2010

God burgandy is so tempting. Will see how it holds up for you.

RE: Interior color change - MB TECH - 05-26-2010

I will let you know, I did try scratching it off with my fingernail to see if it would come off and it would not budge. We will see how the southern heat treats it though.

My dad use to do this for a living for used car lots it works great if you clean all of the crap off your seat! He used a degreaser and scotch bright and then wiped them off with toluene or methyl Ethel alcohol very carefully to get all of the grease off!

RE: Interior color change - MB TECH - 05-26-2010

I did all that but the scotch pad, I will have to do that for the rest of it. Thanks for the tip!

Wow awesome. This is great info! Its time to replace all the carpets in my 300TD, and I'm not too interested in shelling out for the genuine MB... This stuff could make for a really sweet, albeit not stock, interior.

so hows it holding up? i really want to chang my interior color, its blue and it looks sooo stupid, i hate it, black would be much better Smile
is it alot of work to take all the interior apart?

RE: Interior color change - willbhere4u - 12-02-2012

Evan if it wares off you can touch it up after a year or so.

RE: Interior color change - jandamerc - 12-03-2012

I tried it on a nissan 240sx for the door panels and got crap results. It didn't flake off anything it just had uneven colors to it. No matter how many times i did it. Who knows though it could have just been the panel I was using. I've seen other ppl's stuff that looked pretty good.

RE: Interior color change - TheDon - 04-23-2013

I used the same vinyl spray paint to paint one of my first W123 door panels to make it black and it was a spot on match. I never did the seats since I had some rare cloth/tex seats in black.

RE: Interior color change - willbhere4u - 04-24-2013

Never dye cloth seats they come out hard as rock and nasty
