Engine swap, 617 to 603 in G w123 - gah - 05-05-2010

Hello People,

Is there anyone who knows which engine mounts will fit in my G-wagen w123 460 with a 603 engine?
I have already tried 603 mounts for a w124 G. But its not even close to fit.

Thank you in advance.

KR

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

You won't find sedan engine mounts that fit the G-wagen. The frame rails are completely different and the G has asymmetrical mounts.

The G-wagen was offered with the 603/602 but those mount arms are difficult to find (at least in the US). Several people I know have fabricated their own mounts and a few have the factory mount arms. You will also need to modify the oil pan to avoid the front differential but you may also be able to find the sump pickup and the pan from one of those 603 powered g-wagens. (again, that's difficult to come by in the US but may be much easier for you)

-Cheers, Christian

Being in Europe, where OM603 powered G-wagens were sold, you should be able to find somebody with 300GD mount arms for sale. If not, I'd bet MB will have some hidden in Deutschland.
