EMERGENCY!!! - mbenzo300td - 03-18-2010

om603 Car starts at WOT after taking apart the shut off lever. I had to rip out the fuel lines to shut it off. Any insight?

RE: EMERGENCY!!! - Rudolf_Diesel - 03-18-2010

The shut off lever controls the rod that rotates the barrels and casues the fuel to decrease it is the opposite of applying the throttle, it must be related to what you did with the lever. Have you tried reverse what you did initially?

If you cut off the air flow to the engine, i.e. block the turbo inlet, the engine should also die.

I could be wrong, but that is what I would do...go back to the begining

Remove the actuator and reinstall it. You didn't hook the end into the slot.

RE: EMERGENCY!!! - mbenzo300td - 03-19-2010

Is there any chance I could have jammed something into place and will still have a runaway pump once everthing is installed correctly? Some other concerns are seeing the sparks I saw coming from the hotside and the little puddle of oil now sitting on the water pulp.

That is the cause. Reinstall the shutoff actuator correctly.

Took out the vacuum pod tosday and put it all back together correctly. Car still wants to go to WOT and shut off wont shut it down. although it is working properly. When the key shuts off the lever falls. Any ideas?

Sounds like the rack is jammed open. Time to remove the rack cover and see if it moves smoothly and easily... could be something got stuck when the shutoff pod was installed incorrectly. (??)

RE: EMERGENCY!!! - mbenzo300td - 03-26-2010

Alright, took the side cover off of the ip and mooved the rack back and foth, however, every time I moved the rack the shut of lever would also move up and down. Is this normal. Also rack moves back and forth but nut what I would call nice and smooth. Moves towards the rear of the car fine and seems so not spring back to its return position. Is there a method to lubing it up?

RE: EMERGENCY!!! - Rudolf_Diesel - 03-26-2010

When I first recieved my M-pump the action was a little sticky. I cleaned it by spraying with a penetrent/degreaser, after working it back and forth and spraying some more it eventually worked itself free.

The stop lever is connected to the shaft and it will move as the shaft moves. It looks as though you removed the lever in another pic I saw regarding this issue, maybe it was out in a bind upon reinstallation?

I always start at square one and move forward, that usually reveals the issue.

RE: EMERGENCY!!! - mbenzo300td - 03-26-2010

Would there be any problem with running the car with the ip side cover removed?

RE: EMERGENCY!!! - Rudolf_Diesel - 03-26-2010

Just a little oil spillage...

RE: EMERGENCY!!! - mbenzo300td - 03-28-2010

Fived It!!!! Thank you fellas.

RE: EMERGENCY!!! - Rudolf_Diesel - 03-28-2010

What did you figure it was caused by?

RE: EMERGENCY!!! - mbenzo300td - 03-31-2010

Somehow I managed to get the shut off valve tab on the other side of the rack forching it open. I still dont know how I did it because it was hard to correct. One thing I did notice though is when putting the alda back on with the engine running the idle would drop. Is this normal? I was under the impression that it only activated under hard acelleration.

RE: EMERGENCY!!! - Rudolf_Diesel - 03-31-2010

The ALDA will limit fuel at idle to eliminate smoke under low boost conditions. When you are under boost conditions the ALDA will lift off of the plunger and allow more fuel, so the short answer is YES.
