Is the turbo the only thing you look at? How many Airplanes even have a diesel. Not Many... At least it's a start.

Yikes! If the scavenge-charger belt breaks, it stops... Maybe it's not dependent on it in this case...

Maybe it's not dependent on it in this case...Wouldn't it be the same on a g@s engine if an ignition coil, fuel pressure regulator or throttle cable failed? You'd still be able to glide a couple miles to find a road to land on. Its not uncommon to hear of a private plane landing in the middle of highway traffic, its happened a few times since I've lived here.
