Oh crap, now to try and recall all the forums/times I've been banned....

MShop- This, if I recall right, is the third time I've been temporarily banned.
Mercedes Forum- Never banned. I even got promoted to a Super Moderator!
MB World- Currently banned until 02-03-2009 (30 day period) for insulting some pussy's religious feelings in the OT forum.
Benzworld- Once for a few days for posing an "inappropriate" picture in BWOT. Their rules and enforcement are very lax, it would take something extreme to get permabanned.
$chuman Automotive- Permabanned once because Henry does not understand what is covered under copyright law. Banned at least 5 times after that using alternate-names.
MBCA- Banned three times, twice "permanently". Many of their moderators are total douchebags, its an embarrassment they represent MB.
Competition Diesel- Currently permabanned because a piece of shit mod didn't like, in the OT forum, that I pointed out the fact we were lied into Iraq.
Lovecrap Biofuels- 20+ times during Brian Lovecraft's reign. None under current management.

MacRumors- "Permabanned" 4 times. I currently have 279 posts under a new name.
The Pirate Bay- At least 6 times.
Suprbay (The Pirate Bay's forum)- 20+ for intentionally pissing off their douche bag mods.

If I can remember any more I'll add them.

For those that didn't notice, the benzworld ordeal got resolved. I created another account so I could get around the fake "server busy" BS and contact the admin directly by PM. He "banned" my new account and fully restored my old (Zedd) account. I still don't know which mod banned me in the first place or why.

New record! 4 hours from registration to perma-banned!

Heres my theory, ive gotten into a bunch of stupid arguments on that forum specifically as well, but no warnings so far. I was AMAZED at the total solidarity of the moderation when one of them was clearly in the wrong.
Most of the times, I just said, screw it, arguing with these guys is not worth my time. Carrying my point when it gets personal because of the principle of it gets me no farther than letting it go and backing off, especially if I can then obviously be seen by everyone else as always making a reasoned, respectful argument and trying to do so when it turns into a pissing contest.

I think its in the 'delivery' of your statements. Too caustic for the silk drawer crowd. maybe you should try kissing them on the cheek while kicking them in the balls, versus the far more enjoyable but ultimately self destructive straight up slap across the face.

Call em out, and the ranks close. Tell em how nice they look in their new suit and thanks for the investment advice while at the same time seducing their daughter, you'd get farther.

For example, in your email to the moderator over the goatman thing, you could have gone on about how ultimately, you want to preserve the character and quality of the forum and you have concerns about some of the negative things that happen when this guy posts. You would have A. inflated the moderators own sense of self importance by appealing to his sense of high rank in the forum, and B. painted a halo around your head by making it appear as if you are largely concerned about the greater good and so on and so forth.

Calling him a troll makes you look like a hot head, especially if these guys share a toothbrush in the morning, never mind the fact he actually is a troll, you just give the moderators an excuse to exclude you and write off anything else you state as more of the same.

I got an infraction simply for modifying a quote. Yet its perfectly acceptable for "Doktor Bert" to make an insulting, off-topic, direct personal attack and post an offensive political picture!

Then look at RichC's posts directly attacking me in the same thread. No recourse for him either.

Brian is unfit to be a mod; he is incapable of making unbiased decisions. He lets his personal feelings and beliefs get in the way of doing whats right.

Now that I'm banned, Douche Bert has let loose and is making very idiotic posts with blatantly false information that could lead a noobie to do harm to his/her car and nobody is trying to stop them!

I agree with you that this is a bad idea, but this comment was the spark that set it off. You were the one that controlled the viciousness of that particular thread. Then in response, instead of really arguing with them, you belittled their comments and made it clear that what they had to say was less than useless to you. Basically you called this guy stupider than lovecrap, which he may be, and ignored everything else as more stupidity. What would you do if someone said something like that to you? I think anyone would take it personal. Whether or not they were wrong or right was irrelevant as soon as you started posting, and as soon as it was clearly a personal situation. What happened is that people came to this guys defense.
