This is my new project for the time being. Picked up the car for a measly $250 due to the fact that someone didnt understand the importance of general maintenance of old mercedes diesels. Changed all fluids, valve adjustment performed, new glow plugs, new radiator hoses and cosmetic touches that make it my own. I am installing new monarch nozzels this weekend after a pop test and reshim of the injectors. Great little commuter car!
Its a work in progress and for the money I dont think you can beat it!!
Here are some new pic's with the new wheels and black rubber things removed. 2/17/10
Get rid of those rubber shrouds and it will look pretty spiffy without bumpers!

cool car is it a standard? if so a 617 turbo swap would kick ass
unfortunatly its an automatic, for now!!

Put in rebuilt injectors this weekend with monarch nozzels after a pop test and reshim. Its a night and day difference, the car really came to life after this! Lovin it!
There is a turbo 115 out there with an ugly as hood scoop. Wish I had a link to a pic.
here is some updated pictures with new wheels and the black rubber bumper things removed. thanks for the idea by the way to remove those, it does look spiffy!

So after swapping the cylinder head on the Flyin Pumpkin, I had my spare turbo cam and towers hangin out. The cam and rockers were pretty beat on c12h23's car. After a bit of eye-ball engineering, musing, and checking specs, we decided to see about swapping the 617a turbo cam, towers, and rockers onto his car. Well, the whole thing swapped on really straight forward. Even retorqued all the head bolts. Had to reset the cam opening time using the offset woodruff key, but not too bad of a process. While the top end was apart, he painted the valve cover with hi-temp flat blue to set it apart from the crowd.

Happy to say the car has a bit better power. Not a powerhouse, but a slight increase and better throttle response according to him.

It shouldn't since the turbo cam has no valve overlap to scavenge exhaust from the cylinders. More likely the extra power is just from getting the cam timing correct(ed).
om617A and 7mm elements, it will make you a the new president!
He needs a turbo, swap in a turbo motor and you will be perfect.
