sport/drop springs for w126?
does anyone make sport/drop springs for the w126? i swear my 82 300sd looks like it's got hydraulics and they're full up. i've got big gaps over the tires in the wheel wells. should i just cut the springs? i'm not scared. i've already got bilstein HD's on the way, NOT comforts. Smile

I am sure one of the major sports springs would. You should see if the FSM lists a variety of combos. Ie the 500SEC almost certainly had better springs. Coupe 123's have progressive rate springs for instance.

I recall finding Eibach had sets of springs for the W126, and were lower too.

I've had a set of Eibachs on my '83 (hence the username) for about 5 years and they've been great. My car had the same affliction (lots of space between the top of the tire and the fender, even though it had already been upgraded to the OEM 15" alloys), and now it sits just right (have to watch out for some parking bumpers and curbs, though) and still rides fine.

I'll post some pics when I can. Big Grin

83SDdude, Did these springs offer a bit more stiffness to the ride? I would like to beef up the anti-roll on the W126 through springs and increasing the rear bar thickness. What part of the front susp. controls the anti-roll?

Re: sport/drop springs for w126?
The front swaybar on the W126 is a serious PITA to R&R from what I have heard.

I have a 17mm rear sway bar for the W126 I would be happy to sell with bushings and mount. This is 70% stiffer than stock and was used for SLS W126s. PM if you are interested,

RE: sport/drop springs for w126?
I know this is an old post. I'm also Looking to reduce the ridiculous body roll my 84' W126 300SD. Would switching to stiffer Shocks fix this? Anybody know of any new products on the market that would help?. I'm having trouble finding information on this. Any information on springs and sway bars would help me a lot as well. Thanks.

Shocks only absorb rapid suspension movement. The sway bar is what alters body roll, but it also affects cornering traction by reducing weight to the outside wheel(s).

New shocks will help control roll however once they are broken it is likely the ride will be the same. New springs and a stiffer swaybar are what are needed. W126 has a lot of options for sway bars and springs.

On the initial movement, yes. So on a slalom stiff shocks would be great to help keep roll in check, but on a long curve like a highway ramp it won't be much help.

Information RE: sport/drop springs for w126?
Thanks for the Help guys Big Grin! As far as springs I know there is Brabus and I'm pretty sure I saw Eibach. Haven't seen much for sway bars other then from other Benz Models as discussed I think earlier in this thread. Is there a company that manufactures aftermarket ones? Any favorite links you guys can share for parts? Thanks again!
