Ok here it is....... I have a om603 going into my 1983 s10 I have mounted it and everything. I want to rebuild it, it ran good before I pulled the motor it has 200k on it, should I do a rebuild? If yes I plan on a new chain and bearings and rings. Am I going over kill for this engine having 200k on it?

Wow thats crazy I am going to be undergoing that project soon, only I may use a 617, not sure yet. Post some pics please so I can see how you went about it. What are you using as a drivetrain? If I were you as far as the motor I would just roll a chain in it for maintenance purposes unless it has low compression or abnormal engine noise I wouldnt do anything else.

I agree with you with the chain I know they stretch over time. as of now the IP is seeping and the head gasket is also seeping in the passenger rear corner (typical and common similar to the 104 engines) I build custom mounts and as of now the engine will bolt in and near the same locations as the s10 mounts the trans mount will work with the stock crossmember. I guess as of now I am planning on a new chain and sealing the IP and get the rest back together and running exhaust and new glow plugs. here are a few pics

I have to build a custom radiator support now.
BTW are you a MB tech?

the pics did not come through, but I will try another computer later on. Not sure what your using for a radiator but I know summitracing was where I bought one for my wagon ( a universal all aluminum for about $250) It was a good buy, plenty of cooling capability and no more plastic tanks to worry about. Ya I am a tech at a mb dealer.

RE: opinions
here is the link http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-381324/ it took a little modification, I also do not use the factory engine oil cooler, I mounted an aftermarket one underneath near my intercooler. For the radiator hoses I just went to an auto part store and bought the longest hose with the closest bends that I needed. I will try to take some pics of it tonight and post them.
pics finally came through, I really like the styling of the s10, cant wait to see the finished product. Keep me posted

RE: opinions
Well ordered parts for the engine today I got a bunch of gaskts to reseal some leaks and the I decided to roll a new chain into the motor and replacing all glow plugs, ths includes a turbo rebuild kit as well. I purchased all oem parts to be on the safe side luck me I work at a benz dealer and get a great deal on parts I am very fortunate. I will post more pics soon.
