Silver Carbon Fiber interior w116
heres the carbon fiber interior as promised for my 300sd

the wood was cracking alitte and i went with a sportier theme... i bought 3d 3m dino silver carbon fiber vinyl.. cost me $50 and i redid the entire thing in about 3 hours. the dash wood peice that goes from center vent to the left vent was a pain in the ass i had to remove cluster and still couldnt get those little pieces. so i vinyl wrapped directly over very precisely and it came out good all the other pieces i removed and wrapped as nicely as i could.

Looks pretty clean.
I think anything is an improvement from the stock wood pieces.
I just went through and blacked out all my wood trim.

Why didnt you do actual carbon fiber? Why just wrap it? Why not do the whole resin process, etc?

smart idea...kinda like try before you buy.

honestly, not a fan...think it clashes with the era and style of the car...not a car for CF accents, wood is the right trim. in any case, nice execution,

what kind of prep work did you do before layering it?

cleaned the wood trim with alcohol to remove dirt and debris.

i used a hairdryer to heat the vinyl to make it really flexible and easy to wrap. and thats about it.

on a silver car the silver carbon fiber looks amazing, much better then the wood. it gives it a sportier/bentley feel to it even though its one of the slowest cars on the road haha.

ill eventually send out all the wood work to be finished in real silver carbon. But this 3m vinyl carbon is really strong and holds up strong and cleans up easy.

That's fiberglass. There's no such thing as silver carbon. Carbon is black.
