Request for pictures of your lowered w123
Couple days ago I decided to cut my front springs. The rear of the car is kind of low already so I decided to kind of even things up. But I think I took too much off. I chopped out 1.5 coils.

With 205 70 R14 tires, the top of the tire is about a "visual" 1/2 inch below the fender opening/lip.

I think it is kind of low for me... But before I get another set of springs to cut or possibly use the 240D/280E springs, who else has lowered their cars and do you have pictures of it along with the specs of the springs you used?

Thanks.. But I probably will end up keeping it the way it is....

What? It's bigger then the stock size. 24.7 inch circumference for the stock 195 70 R14 vs 25.3 for the 205 70 R14. These are balloon tires!

Anyways I am looking to get some 15s or 16s a bit later.

What size are you running?

RE: Request for pictures of your lowered w123
I run 225/50 16" on mine, the front looks pretty much like yours... I was worried about clearance at first, but after turning it lock to lock, there was plenty of clearance all the way around, so I am not too worried about it. I know plenty of others have had good luck running 215/55 16" though, so if you're worried about clearance at all, that might be the better way to go.

on second look at your pic, I really like the way that thing is sitting, mine is still way too low in the rear and I will be following Greasy's SLS removal thread w/great interest...If I can get it to ride that much higher, I could leave my heavy ass toolbox in the trunk and have no issues.

My TD after 1 coil from front, 215/50/16's, 5 MM spacers o I could use my stock lugs.
Next time I'd prbably go w/55's or the 225/50's since there is plenty of room around the 215/60's
I have no nubs on my front shims, I guess these are the lowest avail.

Car rides nice, but not as squishy as the 240 on the rough stuff

RE: Request for pictures of your lowered w123
Here is an update. I decided of going with 1 coil lopped off. 1 1/2 coil cut makes the car a bit too low for my taste. I tried to keep it there, but in the end it bothered me too much.

The first pic is the car in stock configuration - Notice fender to wheel gap.

Second pic is with 1 1/2 coils cut from the front springs - Thought it was too low.

Third pic is 1 coil cut from the front spring in addition with different wheels. (I didn't take a good pic with the original bunts)

Fourth pic are the spring cuts. First round 1 1/2 coils cut, Second round 1 coil cut. (I gave 1 1/2 coil cut springs to 606Power. Hopefully he'll post up pics of his ride with them.)

Fifth pic are the two cut springs compared to the stock.

I have the 1 nub stock pads on my springs
(see pics 6-8)

I hope this attachment works.
Ok I installed 240D front springs with the one nub pads the 300D had. since I did the 4-speed swap the nose was riding way too high. made the front end wander at higher speeds, especially with 4 people.

with the front end high it threw out the geometry of the syspention.

Charlie

think I have theis picture posting worked out.

Here are the rest.

The 240 springs dropped the front down 1 1/2 inches from where it was.
the ride is a little softer now, and in a tight left turn, (50 mph) on a mountain road, the right corner drops more than it use to, and vice versa. over all it handles ok.

I just pulled a TD front sway bar that is going in next.

The one nub is the 300D, 3 nub 240D.

The longer spring on the right is the 240.

I think he's saying by going to low you will loose your uptravel and it will ride like crap because it will hit the bumpstops all the time.

I really like how my setup is. I'll make it up your way one day and take you for a ride.
