Remote engine supercharger
Just thought I'd throw out an idea.
How about a remote supercharger powered by its own engine. Roots, screw, centrifugal, whatever. Wastegate actuator controls the throttle to maintain constant boost pressure as airflow consumption increases with engine RPM and turbo boost.
Anybody ever seen such a thing in use? I know in LeMons and F1 a few have tried something similar with a blower sucking air out from under the car for "perpetual downforce".

RE: Remote engine supercharger
ive been thinking of a 2ed engine in the trunk fora long time
a rotary engine hooked up to a blower, rev like mad
or a small 10hp deal running a small SC and run it up into the intake egr port?

Waiting for the right 4x4 small pickup and a place to do it, and money.

RE: Remote engine supercharger
There was a drag car in the 60's (I think) that I saw in an old mag, had a small engine in the trunk running a big roots-type blower with piping up to the engine. Great concept, but I don't remember how well it did. I remember thinking that was the coolest thing I had seen in a long time though.
82 300SD aka The Flyin Pumpkin: 7.5mm super M-pump, T3 60 trim turbo, Coldish air intake, A/W intercooler, propane injection, cut springs all around, SW Boost and EGT gauges, Monark 265 nozzles, 16" late model wheels, ported/polished cylinder head, custom reground camshaft, electric fan. In the works: constant tinkering, engine swap to 84 Euro 300D
84 Euro 300D 4 sp: White with black trunk and hood. Blue cloth interior. Manual everything. Soon to get the Flyin Pumpkins engine!

RE: Remote engine supercharger
I thought about this too. My idea was to get a ~10hp Hatz diesel and two roots superchargers all geared way up with a serpentine belt system.
That way the blower engine is fueled from the fuel tank, the intake/exhaust for the hatz could be shared with the cars, the Hatz could run low RPMs with enough torque to be geared up and remain quiet, and TWO superchargers! (because one supercharger just can't make enough boost )
